On Wednesday 14 November, Rīga Stradiņš University, the RSU Institute of Stomatology and the Oral Health Foundation will host the 9th prophylaxis conference titled The oral microbiome – friend or foe?
The oral cavity is home to many microorganisms. At the conference, proponent of the ecological plaque hypothesis Prof. Philip Marsh will explain the practical application of this theory and what really causes caries; Professor Egija Zaura will speak on our options for influencing our microbiome and what consequences this can have on our oral and general health. Professor Nagihan Bostanci will speak on treatment involving contemporary knowledge of the aetiology of periodontal disease, while Professor George Balibasakis – on peri-implant diseases.
