On 10 and 11 October with the support of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), an organising committee conference will be held for the multidisciplinary network Indoor Living Space Improvement: Smart Habitat for the Elderly (SHELD-ON), together with three working group meetings in the Rixwell Hotel Konventa Sēta in Rīga. Signe Tomsone, Dean of the RSU Faculty of Rehabilitation is representing Latvia in this project, financed by COST (European Cooperation of Science and Technology).
The SHELD-ON network was created with the aim to assess the situation and find new solutions, so that senior citizens may live in a safe and comfortable home environment. Three working groups have been established within the framework of the project: the first working group links up furniture designers and manufacturers, the second – specialists in the areas of information and communications technology, while the third – specialists in ergonomics and healthcare.
Research by project participants will be presented at the conference, while the progress of work will be evaluated in working groups on the second day.
