RSU students have the opportunity to go on exchange to study or undergo international traineeships for one semester or the entire academic year abroad, receiving Erasmus+ scholarship. The programme covers all study programmes, as well as all levels of higher education, including doctoral studies.

  • Erasmus+ studies can last from 2 to 12 months.
  • Erasmus+ traineeships can last from 2 to 12 months.
  • The required number of credit points to be obtained is 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) which are equivalent to 20 Latvian credit points for one semester, respectively 60 ECTS or 40 credit points for one academic year.
  • Erasmus+ member countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Ireland, Cyprus, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Spain, Hungary, Germany, Sweden; EEA Member States: Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein; EU Candidate Countries – Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia.
  • In order to be able to successfully study or implement traineeship under the Erasmus+ programme, the student must have good knowledge of language required by the host country/institution.

Who can apply for the Erasmus+ programme:

Faculty of Medicine

3rd and 4th year students (mobility takes place in the 4th or 5th year of studies, respectively)

Faculty of Dentistry

3rd year students (mobility takes place in the 4th year of studies)

Faculty of Pharmacy

2nd–4th year students (mobility takes place in the 3rd, 4th or 5th year of studies, respectively)

Faculty of Social Sciences

At Bachelor's level
1st and 2nd year students (mobility takes place in the 2nd or 3rd year of studies, respectively)
At Master's level
1st year students (mobility takes place in the 2nd year of studies)

Department of Residency

At least 1st year residents (mobility takes place in the next year of studies)

Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences

At least 1st year students (mobility takes place in the next year of studies)

Department of Doctoral Studies

At least 1st year doctoral students (mobility takes place in the next year of studies)

Graduates

Mobility takes place in the year following graduation by applying during the last year of studies

Mobility for students from other study years is also possible depending on the form of studies – correspondence studies, professional studies, etc.

Application

ERASMUS+ STUDIES
  • Choose the preferred country and the university according to the cooperation agreements concluded by your faculty and the level of your study programme;
  • Get acquainted with the offer of study courses on the website of the selected university;
  • Fill in the application form, indicating your choice.

At the end of the application period, students will be invited to an interview, after which a decision will be made on receiving an Erasmus+ scholarship, i. e. nomination for studying within the Erasmus+ programme.

The nominated students start the application procedure at the selected foreign university/ institution by:

  1. Getting acquainted with the information about the selected higher education institution, offered courses, deadlines for accepting documents on the website of the relevant university;
  2. Preparing the application documents requested by the hosting university;
  3. Submitting the necessary documents to the Erasmus+ coordinator (all application documents, signed Learning Agreement for Studies, information on the bank account for receiving the scholarship).

After receiving official approval from the foreign university, the Erasmus+ coordinator organises the conclusion of the grant agreement.

  • Consult with the head of your study programme about possible traineeships;
  • Fill in the application form, indicating your choice.

  1. Coordinating the content and the course of the traineeship with the selected place of internship;
  2. Submitting the necessary documents to the Erasmus+ coordinator (all application documents, signed Learning Agreement for Traineeships, information on the bank account for receiving the scholarship).

After receiving official approval from the foreign university, the Erasmus+ coordinator organises the conclusion of the grant agreement.

What should be done after returning?

Within one month after returning from studies or traineeship abroad, the student must submit to the Erasmus+ coordinator the following:

  • Individual report form of studies or traineeship. For Erasmus+ studies – a confirmation letter indicating the exact study period; transcript of records with transcript of marks. For Erasmus+ traineeships – a completed and signed assessment form from the place of internship;
  • Other documents specified in the grant agreement.

In 2021, Rīga Stradiņš University was awarded the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) 2021–2027, which provides an opportunity for RSU to participate in all Erasmus+ activities until 2027. Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport.

The programme supports: mobility of individuals for learning purposes, cooperation among organisations and institutions to promote innovation and exchange good practices, policy reforms, Jean Monet activities, sport.
