Preliminary Knowledge: | Bachelor's or Master's level introductory courses in the field of the student specialisation to the degree that provides good working knowledge about the well-developed issues inn that field. | ||||||||
Objective: | The aim of the course is to develop a stimulating and supportive framework in which students under guidance of the course teachers and in close cooperation with the supervisor of the student acquire knowedge about the current issues in the area connected to their doctoral thesis and develop skills and competencies working with this information in connection to their doctoral thesis. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | During the course students independently research, present to the colleagues, reflect and summarise information about the cutting-edge issues in the field connected to their research field. The course work (exam) consists of a chapter for the doctoral thesis (max 10 000 words). | ||||||||

Knowledge: | Students can enumerate the most important wide-spectrum and specialised periodicals in the field of their doctoral project, know their specialisation and specifics of the publications. Students know the most imporatnt topics covered by these journals in connection to their doctoral project. Students know the most important non-periodical publications (books) of the recent years in connection to their topic. Students know and where possible are participating in the activities of the local and international professional organisations that are relevant to their topic. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students can find, analyse and compile cutting-edge issues regarding a particular topic. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Students use the acquired knowledge to develop their research project. | ||||||||
