Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Secondary education, basic computer skills, knowledge of English and Latvian.
Objective:
To provide students with knowledge of the physical, mental and social health of an individual, as well as health in the context of public health, health as a whole, focusing on healthy lifestyles and situations affecting health and their solutions.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
During the implementation of the study course, students independently prepare and present two independent works on the topics covered in the course, which are part of the self-experience project "Change of habit", which students independently implement during the course, as well as actively participate in classes.
Assessment Criteria:
Active participation in lectures and classes, at the end of the course - presentation of the self-experience project "Habit change". During the course, students develop and implement a self-experience project "Changing a habit" - a change in a lifestyle habit, define it, justify it with scientific information, set criteria, identify obstacles and contributing factors, draw up a plan, document the process and results, and execute it.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:As a result of studying the study course, students will know the influence of lifestyle on the quality of life, will know and understand the concepts of "health", "preventive measures", "prevention", "unhealthy behavior and behavior", will know about different approaches to learning health issues, will know what knowledge and skills necessary for the implementation of a healthy lifestyle.
Skills:Students will be able to find and gather relevant and appropriate information about the connection of risk factors affecting health with specific diseases, will understand the purpose of learning health issues, will be able to form habits to live and work in a healthy environment in order to reduce or avoid diseases, will be able to choose suitable preventive measures, will be able to recognize unhealthy behavior and evaluate relevant information, will understand their own and other people's needs, their impact on physical and mental health, the impact of life habits on the quality of personal life and health.
Competencies:On completing the course students will be able to select and analyse scientific - research approaches to health issues and will be able to integrate knowledge and skills acquired during the course into the analysis of specific individual or public health situations.
