Preliminary Knowledge: | Anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, gymnastics and terminology. | ||||||||
Objective: | To introduce students with the Pilates method, to promote the formation of practical skills and abilities in the implementation of the elements. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | During the study course, students perform Pilates exercises independently and in groups, paying special attention to their proper performance technique and breathing. Prepare the description of one Pilates exercise according to the requirements and submit it in e-studies. Prepare and demonstrate Pilates training program according to students' level of physical fitness . | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Participation and active participation in practical classes makes up 60% of the mark (if 13 classes are attended, it gives 6 points). 40% of the mark (4 points in total) the student receives for the completion of theory and practical tasks at the end of the study course, ratio 1:1 (50:50). Both the theoretical answer and the performance of practical tasks are evaluated in a 0 or 1 or 2 point system, respectively, where 2 points is the maximum. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | As a result of mastering the study course, students will have acquired following knowledge: • define the Pilates exercise system; • Pilates history and benefits; • explain the Pilates exercise technique and the role of the "Powerhouse"; • define in the basic principles of the Pilates method. | ||||||||
Skills: | As a result of the study course the student will be able to: • to execute the Pilates basic exercises properly; • use Pilates exercises for health promotion; • variate Pilates exercises for different purposes; • choose and implement Pilates exercises for themselves by applying Pilates principles. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Using the acquired knowledge and skills, students will be able to evaluate the proper Pilates exercise technique and the need to use it to improve health and physical fitness level, as well as correctly execute Pilates basic movements and their modifications by using Pilates basic principles of motion. The student must know and understand the theory, tasks and objectives of the Pilates exercise system. | ||||||||
