International Experts Participate in 10th Latvian Gastroenterology Congress
The 10th Latvian Gastroenterology Congress took place on 3–4 December 2021. The congress was held online and attracted international guests and speakers. It was organised with the support of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), the Ministry of Health, and the Latvian Academy of Sciences.
The first day was dedicated to satellite symposia where issues of gastroenterology, hepatology, abdominal surgery, laboratory diagnostics, endocrinology, etc. were discussed in cooperation with several professional associations including the Latvian Association of Surgeons, the Latvian Association of Infectologists and Hepatologists, and the Latvian Internist Society.
A plenary session was held on the second day that was solemnly opened by RSU Rector, Professor Aigars Pētersons. More than 750 participants took part in the congress.
During the congress, medical opinion leaders from Latvia and several international experts from both the EU and the USA shared their findings. The congress’ Scientific Committee was represented by a number of industry opinion leaders from 15 countries.
In parallel to the programme, participants had the opportunity to visit a virtual exhibition where several industry representatives presented their achievements. The event platform with all the materials was available until 10 January 2022, so participants had the opportunity to look revisit the presentations. A special issue of the best abstracts will be published and expanded into scientific articles in cooperation with Latvijas Zinātņu Akadēmijas Vēstis (Proceedings of the Latvian Academy of Sciences).
