Dresden University of Technology
How did you draw up your Learning Agreement?
I received the official list of courses to take at the Dean's Office. I found the available courses on the website of the exchange university and made a possible plan. I consulted a lot with Prof. Bahs, who was the Head of the exchange thing from the RSU side at that time. In general, I managed to put together about 85% of the required courses.
How is the study process organized in the receiving university? What is different compared to RSU?
The biggest difference was that there are a lot of lectures in the clinical years, but they are very well prepared compared to RSU. Patients were often invited and the professors always tried to have a discussion with the students, not just to listen, but to drill down and think along. I really liked the interdisciplinary approach, when one lecture topic was given by professors from different specialities and how each interpreted the topic. And when it came to the practical classes, we really worked in small groups for the whole class and that's how we learned a lot of manipulations that are not included in our programme.
What were the living conditions?
In general, very good, I stayed in a university dormitory. The price was also very affordable.
Did the Erasmus+ grant cover the living expenses?
I think it would have been sufficient in general, except for the registration fees for the semesters, which was almost €600 in total, and travel costs were also high, especially at Christmas and Easter. So, I had to use my own resources for the last 2 months.
Your advice and recommendations for others choosing this city for their mobility
I definitely recommend going, it's a very beautiful city and you can travel very cheaply to neighbouring countries. The study programme is very good, you get to do a lot of practical work. I would definitely recommend learning German before the exchange. It is difficult at first and you also have to plan your schedule very well as I was there in several academic years at the same time.
The best memory or experience from Erasmus+ mobility
At the end of November, almost all of exchange students went to Prague for a weekend, which was only 2 hours away. And of course, the people I met, the new friends I will definitely meet again in the future.
The most valuable realization or lesson you have learned
Whether the exchange works out is up to everyone. How open and ready you are to new experiences and people. Exchange takes a lot of courage to get used to a new environment and to learn in a foreign language.
