A record number of participants at Research Week conferences on medicine and social sciences
6 000 participants representing 28 countries – a record number of participants attended two of three conferences within the framework of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week. These participants attended the conference Knowledge for Use in Practice on medicine and health sciences and the interdisciplinary conference PLACES on social sciences held on 1-3 April. Almost half of the participants followed the conferences by watching the live stream made available online.
Both conferences together gathered 50 visiting professors from 20 countries. A total of 1 245 reports were presented. A jury composed of 110 local and international experts evaluated poster presentations.
‘This week started a new chapter in the development of RSU. I believe that we are on the right track and the upcoming years will bring outstanding new results in research. I would like to express my gratitude to all participants, to the organising committee and all the volunteers. Thanks to them we enjoyed a celebration of science. This is an outstanding achievement of RSU and our country,’ says RSU rector Professor Aigars Pētersons with satisfaction.
Research Week will conclude with the RSU International Student Conference which is the most widely attended student conference in the Baltic States. On 4 – 5 April around 435 students from 12 countries will present their scientific papers that will be evaluated by 14 international experts.
