RSU’s New Constitutional Assembly Holds its First Meeting
The new Constitutional Assembly of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) held its first meeting on Wednesday, 18 May. The new assembly consists of 78 academic staff members, 26 general staff members, and 26 student representatives.
The new Constitutional Assembly will serve for the next three years. They will make decisions about the most important aspects of the university – the election of the Rector, the Senate, the Academic Arbitration Court, and other issues.
During the meeting, Professor Ilze Grope, Dean of the Faculty of Residency, was elected Chairperson of the Constitutional Assembly, Toms Mārtiņš Smilga, Chairman of the Board of the RSU Student Union, was elected Deputy Chairperson, and Sarmīte Zeire, Administration Office Manager, was elected Secretary of the Constitutional Assembly. The RSU Constitution was also approved at the meeting.
