Riga Stradiņš University Opens Summer Admissions on 1 June

Starting Wednesday, 1 June, Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) will open summer admissions and will register applications electronically. Admissions to undergraduate programmes will continue until 11 July, to master's programmes - until 14 July, and to doctoral programmes - until 11 August.

This year RSU will be accepting applications to 52 study programmes in Latvian and 7 in English. In total, the university will be offering more than 900 state scholarship places this summer, including for social sciences students, which is a first in RSU's history.

To apply, please sign up in the RSU Admissions application system. This year, prospective students will be able to complete the entire admission process remotely by applying for studies using latvija.lv, and sign their contracts using a secure electronic signatures. We encourage students to make full use of the opportunity to complete the entire admission process electronically. We also want to remind all students that they can get a secure electronic signature within one week by logging in to www.eparaksts.lv.

The University invites master's students to a conversation evening with the slogan "Reboot Your System!". The even will take place on Thursday, 2 June at 18.00 in Kalnciema kvartāls, as well as live on the RSU website and on Facebook. Meanwhile, more information on all six PhD programmes, including the new Health Care programme, which includes sub-programmes in medicine, pharmacy and psychology, can be found on the RSU website www.rsu.lv/studiju-iespejas/doktora-studiju-programmas.

This summer's intake will be the first in RSU history when newly admitted students in social sciences programmes at the Faculty of European Studies, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Communication will be offered state scholarships. The Nursing programme stands out this year in terms of scholarships, as they have had a large increase in the number of places. Although the number of nurses in Latvia is gradually increasing, the Ministry of Health estimates that there is still a shortage of around 3,000 nurses. The increase in scholarships hopes to alleviate this long-standing problem in the health care sector.

The social sciences programmes are becoming more and more popular among the seven English-language study programmes at RSU. Young people from Latvia as well as from abroad are choosing to study here. They can study business in the International Business and Start-up Entrepreneurship programme, and diplomacy in the Russia and Eurasia Studies or International Governance and Diplomacy master's programmes.
