The President of Latvia, Egils Levits met with the Rector of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Professor Aigars Pētersons and the Chair of the RSU Council Reinis Bērziņš to discuss the contribution of higher education exports to the Latvian economy and the development opportunities for higher education institutions on Monday, 24 October.

During the meeting, the guests gave a presentation of how RSU has grown over the past five years. They elaborated on the increase in the number of Latvian and international students, visiting professors, how research has developed, the University’s position in international rankings, graduates’ employment rates, and the University’s financial growth, which has mainly been due to the successful export of education.

The President was also introduced to the University's main guidelines in its development strategy for 2022-2027. The President expressed appreciation of the RSU’s contribution to internationalising Latvian higher education, education export, and developing study programmes.
