On 19 December, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Business Incubator B-Space opened applications for the incubation (INK) programme. All students, researchers, employees, academic staff members, and RSU or RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE) alumni have the opportunity to apply and develop their business idea and compete for funding of up to 2,500 EUR to grow their future company.

During the INK programme, participants will have the opportunity to turn their business idea into a real startup. The programme will include business model development, market analysis, the creation of sketches or prototypes, and the establishment of financial and legal structures for the emerging company. All teams will also have the chance to collaborate with experienced mentors who can provide valuable advice and support. At the end of the programme, the teams will present their business ideas to a jury, competing for financial support of up to 2,500 EUR.

Teams of 2-5 people with a joint business idea can participate in the INK programme. At least one team member must be an RSU or RSU LASE student, employee, academic staff representative, or alumnus. This year's incubation programme will take place from 24 February to 26 May. The programme will include both joint sessions and individual work on business ideas. INK participants are encouraged to attend all sessions in person, but to facilitate participation from different regions of Latvia, the option to join remotely will also be provided.

The programme invites not only social science students but also students and lecturers from healthcare and other fields from Latvia and abroad. The B-Space incubation programme has been the starting point for several successful companies and teams. The team Coffee Society won 1st place in the 2023 INK programme with their business idea for a specialised coffee shop and opened their café to visitors in November, while the company DRTYBOARDS offers surfboards suitable for the Baltic Sea. Additionally, the Vibro Brace team, which is developing a specialised training bracelet for equestrians, has received recognition and funding in the UniLab Elevate pre-acceleration programme.
