Folk dance ensemble Ačkups and choir Rīga took part in the Song and Dance Festival parade
On Sunday, 2 July, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) mixed choir Rīga and folk dance ensemble (TDA) Ačkups took part in the XXVII Latvian Song and XVII Dance Festival parade from the Freedom Monument to Dailes Theatre accompanied by RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons.
Both RSU collectives have a lot of experience in participating in song and dance festivals. The RSU choir, which currently has 63 members, has taken part in every festival since 1951. In turn, the folk dance ensemble, which has 64 members, has taken part in every dance festival in its history, skipping only the events of 1980 and 1985.
TDA Ačkups will perform in the Latvian stage dance grand concert Balts (White), the grand concert Mūžīgais dzinējs (Perpetual Motion) and the closing concert Kopā augšup (Upward Together), while the mixed choir Rīga will delight the audience in the grand choral concert Tīrums. Dziesmas ceļš (The Field. The Road of Song) and the final concert Kopā augšup (Upward Together).
