Prospective international students at RSU Open Day
On 22 September, the first Open Day of the autumn semester for prospective international students to Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) took place. Young people and their parents came from Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, and Ukraine.
The RSU Open Day gives prospective students a great opportunity to get acquainted with the learning environment at RSU by visiting the study facilities, which helps them imagine what it is like to study at RSU. Participants learned about what study programmes RSU offers in English and the application process. This was followed by a tour of the main building led by international students Bárbara Silva from Portugal and Yathin Sabu from India. The prospective medical students visited the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre (METC) where simulation experts showed them a number of medical moulages and virtual clinical skills simulators and held a cardiopulmonary resuscitation masterclass.
Participating in Open Day gives prospective students the confidence that they have made the right choice in applying to study at RSU. The visiting students and their families appreciated the facilities, the wide opportunities to get involved in student life, as well as the chance to meet the staff from the International Admissions Office and current international students in person to ask them questions about the application process, the learning environment at RSU, as well as practical things to consider when living in Riga.
