RSU and partners sign agreement on national biomedical research platform
As part of the Precision Medicine Networking (PMNET) Forum 2023, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and five other leading Latvian biomedical research organisations have joined forces to create BioMedPharm, an innovative research platform capable of implementing biomedical research projects of any complexity.

Our Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Oncology, Research Laboratory of Radiology, Bioinformatics and Molecular Genetics, as well as our students were involved in creating the content of this event and are here today – from the volunteers to the keynote speakers.
This year at the Forum we signed an important cooperation agreement on the National Biomedical Research Platform. Together with our partners, we have already been implementing projects under the Innovation Fund Programme of the Ministry of Economy and are active participants in the biomedical ecosystem,’

The mission of BioMedPharm is to improve access to therapies, thereby reducing mortality and morbidity rates, and contribute to improving the overall health of society. The platform will focus on the identification of new biomarkers and the introduction of precision medicine solutions, as well as the development of technologies for the production of drugs, their transporters and vaccines, drug repositioning, discovery and development of new drugs.
The founders of BioMedPharm are RSU, the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre, the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis, the University of Latvia, the Institute for Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment BIOR and Riga Technical University.
The first PMNET Forum took place last year at RSU and gave impetus to many new developments and initiatives. After last year's Forum, RSU visited Israel, the United States, and other countries to continue their joint work and projects.
This year's PMNET Forum, held on 12-13 October at the National Library of Latvia, was the largest precision medicine event in the Nordic and Baltic region with more than 50 speakers and over 600 registered participants from more than 20 countries.
