US Ambassador visits RSU pharmacy laboratories and tests dental simulation technologies
On Tuesday, 30 January, the US Ambassador to Latvia Christopher Robinson visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). During his visit, Robinson explored the RSU Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre, as well as the preclinical facilities at the RSU Faculty of Dentistry.
RSU management joined the delegation from the US Embassy for a tour of the RSU Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre. Ambassador Robinson also had the opportunity to explore the Faculty of Pharmacy’s modern chemistry laboratories, which have been developed in consultation with professionals from the pharmaceutical industry. The management of the RSU Faculty of Pharmacy presented the well-equipped laboratory facilities and spoke about topical issues in the field, discussing collaborations between science and industry.
Later, Ambassador Robinson had the opportunity to put himself in the shoes of a dental student and try out various simulation technologies in the pre-clinical training facilities of the RSU Faculty of Dentistry, the most modern pre-clinical dental training centre in Northern Europe. The management of the Faculty of Dentistry stressed that simulations are an integral part of dental studies, ensuring the safety of both future doctors and patients.
At the end of the visit, RSU management and the US Ambassador's delegation discussed topical issues and ways in which to promote international research projects in the future, including collaboration with peers in the US.
There are currently 17 students and 11 visiting lecturers from the US at RSU.
