23 Years of Thanking Employees at RSU Senior Evenings
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has been organising annual senior evenings in early January to thank both current and former long-term employees. Each of these employees has invested a lot of work to promote the development and growth of RSU. This year, RSU organised a concert programme Veltījums for its seniors with the participation of the composer Mārtiņš Brauns, the violin quartet Juno and vocal group Insomnia.
The roots of this tradition date back to 1995 when the university’s lecturers (then – the Medical Academy of Latvia) were invited to a reunion. The event was named Senior Evening in 1997 and since then not only academic, but also administrative staff are invited to attend.
This year, 556 current and former long-term employees were invited to the evening that was held on 9 January in the RSU Great Hall.
The origins of the tradition can be seen in the TV show Vai tu zini? (Do you Know?) from 1999. In Latvian without subtitles.
