RSU hosts Monaco's Minister for Health and Social Affairs

On 29 and 30 July, Christophe Robino, Monaco's Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and his delegation visited Latvia. The aim of the visit is to learn about Latvia’s healthcare system and conclude an agreement on closer international cooperation. On 29 July, the delegation from Monaco also visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), where they met with RSU management and other university representatives to discuss potential collaboration opportunities.

The Monaco’s Minister of Health not only visited RSU but also Riga East University Hospital and several private medical institutions in Riga.

During the visit, on 29 July, a bilateral cooperation agreement in the fields of health and medical sciences was signed at the Ministry of Health. Latvia is particularly keen on developing health tourism, offering medical services to Monaco's residents at Latvian healthcare facilities. Simultaneously, Latvian higher education institutions are prepared to train doctors through international study programmes.

Latvia and Monaco are both members of the World Health Organisation's Small Countries Initiative, which unites European countries with populations under 2 million.

To date, Latvia and Monaco have collaborated closely in gynaecology and obstetrics. A notable event was the 2017 conference Latvia meets Monaco: Obstetrics and Gynecology, where leading specialists from both countries exchanged their expertise. Monaco has praised the professionalism of Latvian doctors.
