RSU central building - virtual tour

The central buidling of Rīga Stradiņš University is located in the beautiful Pārdaugava district of Rīga, at 16 Dzirciema iela. Work on the building began on 17 December 1981 by embedding a capsule in the foundation of the new building.

The construction continued until 30 September 1987 when it was inaugurated by Professor Vladislavs Korzāns, Rector of Rīga Medical Institute. The entire complex covered 16 000 square metres which held over 1000 offices, lecture halls, laboratories, the Rector's office and other administrative units, the library and a canteen. The cost for the new structure was 4.5 rubles. The architect was Visvaldis Čikste, and the interior designers were Dace Mote and Viesturs Vilks.
