Prospective International Students Take Part in First RSU Open Day Webinar
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) International Department (ID) held their first Open Day webinar on Friday, 27 March. Around fifty prospective students from all over the world participated in the event. The webinar featured a presentation about RSU and study opportunities in English, as well as about life in Latvia and Riga.
The attendees of the RSU Open Day webinar represented several countries: the majority of students were from Germany, Finland, Norway and the UK, but there were also several participants from France, the US, Canada, Lithuania, Russia and India. The young prospective students were mostly interested in the Medicine and Dentistry study programmes.
During the 3-hour webinar, a lot of time was allocated to a Q&A session during which the potential students inquired about how to submit their applications, the study process at RSU, scholarship and transfer opportunities, as well as postgraduate residency training. Participants were also interested in learning more about the Erasmus+ mobility programme, as well as about postgraduate opportunities at RSU.
Particular attention was devoted to matters associated with the current state of emergency and its impact on the upcoming admission process.
'As we are currently facing so many restrictions on free movement, it is crucially important that we maintain an online connection with potential international students and use other instruments for remote communication. The ID provides individual consultations for applicants from abroad every day. This kind of personalised approach is of tremendous importance today,' says Baiba Pētersone, Director of the International Department.
'Our Open Days for international applicants is the way we are able to address our prospective students directly. As we can not currently host face-to-face events, RSU is nevertheless making sure that we are accessible. Human communication and contact are definitely essential as we face emergencies and challenges like this,' says Māris Ginters, Head of the International Department International Admissions Office.
