Emma Kjellstadli

Emma Kjellstadli is 22 and just started her 3rd semester in Medicine at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). She has been politically active since high school, and was even on her local municipality council Færder municipality, close to the city of Tønsberg - for a few years on behalf of her political party. To keep her political interest alive alongside her studies Emma joined the society Feminists in Riga, and is now its president.

While keeping two meters between us in our daily lives is possible, humanities and social science scholars are struggling to keep a critical distance from the pandemic as a research object, as it unfolds right in front of their eyes. To briefly sketch out the challenges, we talk to Dace Dzenovska, RSU Research Week keynote speaker and Associate Professor in the anthropology of migration at the University of Oxford.

Have you ever played Werewolves (aka Mafia)? This is your chance to join an online version of the game two days before the next full moon (in case you have not checked the moon phases lately - the game will take place on 25 February at 16:00 GMT+2).

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has developed a dictionary of medical terms as a free smartphone app together with the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences. The dictionary targets international students studying medicine and dentistry in Latvia, medical practitioners, and translators. It is also useful for patients and can be used by Latvians when traveling, or by international patients who need to communicate with doctors in Latvia.
