Objective

To ensure the acquirement and improvement of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in andrological reproductology that corresponds to the requirements of the andrological speciality, to prepare a physician for the certification in additional speciality of andrology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Epidemiology of infertility, physiology of fertilization;
Physiology of testicular function. Diagnostics of male infertility;
Classification of andrological pathologies. Hypothalamic and pituitary diseases;
Pathologies at the testis level. Structural chromosomal abnormalities. Gonadal dysgenesis, testicular tumors;
Seminal duct diseases. Seminal duct obstruction. Epispadias, hypospadias;
Ejaculation disorders: anejaculation, retrograde ejaculation, premature ejaculation;
Pathologies of androgen target organ. Androgen insensitivity syndrome;
Gynecomastia: causes, examination, treatment;
Indications for the cryopreservation of sperm;
Late onset hypogonadism. Hormone replacement therapy;
Inflammatory diseases of the male genital and pelvis. Diagnostics, treatment;
Sperm tests: spermogram, sperm functional tests.

Skills

1.Performs spermogram according to WHO guidelines;
Performs sperm functional tests (sperm DNA integrity test, HBA test, MAR test, semen oxidative level test);
Performs biochemical tests on seminal fluid (determination of glucosidase, fructose levels);
Physical and instrumental examinations of infertile male patients (Tanner scale, Prader orchidometer, ultrasonographic examination);
Applies vibrostimulation for patients with spinal injuries and for other patients with anejaculation.

Competence

1.Performs diagnostics of male infertility: physical and instrumental examination, evaluation of hormonal tests, evaluation of spermogram according to WHO guidelines, evaluation of semen functional tests;
Interprets the results of spermogram and semen functional test, interprets the tests of seminal fluid;
Determines the indications for the particular type of male infertility treatment and applies the treatment (antibacterial, hormonal, surgical, medical insemination);
Determines the indications and applies necessary hormonal treatment (anti-estrogens, gonadotropic hormones, chorionic gonadotropins);
Diagnoses and treats diseases of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland that affect male reproductive health;
Diagnoses late hypogonadism, determines the indications for its medication treatment, performs hormonal treatment and the monitoring of patients during the therapy;
Diagnoses and treats inflammatory diseases of the male genital and pelvis;
Diagnoses and treats the most common male genetic pathologies related to the reproductive health (Klinefelter syndrome);
Diagnoses gynecomastia and its causes, applies appropriate treatment;
Diagnoses and treats primary and secondary premature ejaculation;
Treatment of anejaculation: applies vibrostimulation for patients with spinal injuries and ffor other patients, and is familiar with other types of treatment of anejaculation (electroaeculation, TESE / TESA / PESA).
