About Study Course
Objective
To give knowledge regarding client's condition assessment and necessity of first aid, to promote acquisition of effective behaviour in various client/victim's health and life-threatening situations before the arrival of a medical practitioner or an emergency medical care.
Prerequisites
Biology, human anatomy, physiology at secondary school level.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the study course students will gain knowledge regarding first aid goals and tasks, will be able to describe first aid methods and basic principles of emergency care, will be able to name sequence steps for the client's (victim's) survey, describe the measures of stopping bleeding, will be able to name and describe the steps of anti shocking measures, sequence in the event of injuries, first aid action in the client's health assurance in hazardous situations.
After completing of the course, students will be able to demonstrate the making of CPR in accordance with the ABC algorithm, identify vital signs, stop life-threatening bleeding, perform immobilization in case of bone fractures, provide help in health-threatening situations: shock, acute illness and exacerbation of chronic diseases, exposure to environmental hazards etc.
After completing the study course, students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in practice by providing first aid, to facilitate the client's suffering before the EMS or the medical practitioner arrives.
