Objective

To acquire knowledge of a modern, holistic view of human health issues (human function and impairment at body function, activity and participation levels), rehabilitation objectives, medical and social objectives.

Prerequisites

Human anatomy and physiology, knowledge of medical ethics, propaedetics, physiology is desirable, passed the course "Fundamentals of Rehabilitation."

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On successful completion of the study course students will:
1) acquire basic knowledge regarding the purposes, tasks, human functioning of physical and rehabilitation medicine;
2) be able to assess the malfunctioning according to the International Classification of Functioning;
3) be able to name the classification of technical aids and the principles for their selection;
4) acquire basic knowledge of functioning disorders in patients with different diseases, injuries.

Skills

On successful completion of the study course students will be able to assess impaired functioning, assess the risks of medical complications.

Competence

On successful completion of the study course students will be enabled to make practical use of acquired knowledge and skills in assessing patient health and impairment.
