About Study Course
Objective
To contribute to the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge of the aetiology and developmental mechanisms of skin and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in the human body by linking them to clinical manifestations, fundamental approaches to treatment and possibilities of specific and aetiological therapy, prevention of STDs and contagious skin infections limiting their spread and their impact on individual quality of life and public health.
Prerequisites
Anatomy, histology, physiology, pathological anatomy, pathological physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, propaedeutics, internal diseases, pharmacology.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the study course, students will be able to characterize and classify skin tumours; to describe and assess oncological diseases of the skin (skin cancer) in respect of differential diagnosis; to describe and systematize investigation methods and therapeutic opportunities in cases of skin diseases and dermal malignancies; to systematize technologies applied in modern dermatology, their diagnostic and therapeutic value; to describe severe dermatoses and dermatoses associated with disorders in other organ systems; to systematize topical corticosteroids.
To evaluate the skin condition of the patient; to distinguish between the symptoms of skin lesions; to develop a plan for differential diagnostic medical actions; to find out the history in detail and purposefully; to perform dermatological examinations; to check for specific symptoms; to interpret and analyse the medical facts and results obtained; to make a diagnosis; to determine therapeutic tactics for various diseases and skin tumours for the particular patient; to cooperate professionally with patients, colleagues in the field of diagnostics, differential diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dermatological diseases and skin lesions (tumours), observing the principles of medical ethics and patients' rights.
Take responsibility for the own studies; to act as a health promoter in the context of public and individual prevention of skin diseases and skin lesions (tumours); to take organizational and administrative responsibility for the selection of cost-effective algorithms for the diagnosis and treatment of dermatovenerological and dermatooncological diseases.
