Objective

To acquaint students with information technologies and application opportunities of computer software in work at the institutions of the Ministry of the Interior; to stimulate students’ interest in information technologies and the need to master them; to extend and improve each student’s individual knowledge and skills in practical use of the computer and in obtaining, processing and storing of information; to encourage development of analytical skills through the research process of software and information technology.

Task: to extend and improve each student’s individual knowledge and skills in practical use of computer.

Prerequisites

Basic skills in work with computers, state language and English language proficiency.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Able to demonstrate comprehensive and specialised knowledge and understanding of information technologies and information systems used by police, border guards, prison and probation services in their work; able to demonstrate comprehensive and specialised knowledge and understanding of electronic evidence relevant to the work done in the police.

Skills

Able to use general and special terminology, to carry out practical tasks related to data selection and input into information systems used by police, border guards, prison and probation services; able to obtain information from websites, gather electronic evidence at the scene; able to obtain electronic evidence from digital media.

Competence

Able to describe and analyse practical problems in police work, to select and use the information to be entered into information systems used by police, border guards and prison and probation services; to act at the scene and to use information technology solutions.
