Objective

To develop understanding of the concept, process and use of lobbying. The course provides both theoretical knowledge about the lobbying process in foreign countries and its implementation in Latvia and a practical insight into the development of lobbying strategies. Within the course students are offered theoretical knowledge about the phenomenon of lobbying and different institutions representing interests. The course combines theoretical knowledge about types of political and civil, economic and “illegal” lobbying of different countries. The course provides the possibility to learn lobbying tools, develop strategic planning and management skills in practical tasks.

Prerequisites

Knowledge about the state administration structure, decision-making process, latest political events, the Latvian legislation process.

Knowledge

Understand the nature of lobbying and representation of interests, know basic principles and models.

Skills

Analyse manifestations of lobbying, able to explain latest trends.

Competence

Able to create, justify and present a plan of a campaign for representation of interests/lobbying, able to study manifestations of lobbying.
