Objective

To develop students' skills to make stroking, rubbing, kneading, bashing and vibrating techniques; to develop student ability to present massage effects on human body and its curative effects, to name main stages of the classical massage history; to develop students' skills to use appropriate massage oil; to list characteristics of a masseur and their responsibilities during a massage session.

Prerequisites

Normal and pathological anatomy and physiology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On succesful completion of the study course students will be able to:
• list indications and contraindications of a massage;
• remember main stages of the history of a massage development;
• present massage effects and its curative effects;
• name the characteristics and responsibilities of a masseur during a massage session.

Skills

On succesful completion of the study course students will be able to:
• demonstrate stroking, rubbing, kneading, bashing and vibrating techniques;
• choose adequate and comfortable position of a patient during the massage.

Competence

On succesful completion of the study course students will be able to:
• use appropriate massage oil;
• introduce patients with their responsibilities when going for a massage treatment.
