Preclinical Course in Operative Dentistry III (ZTMVK_053)
About Study Course
Objective
To develop students’ knowledge of basic principles of cavity formation and filling, different filling materials and indications for their use as well as necessary skills for applying the acquired knowledge in the practical treatment of caries.
Prerequisites
Dental anatomy, histology, medical biochemistry, biomaterials in dentistry and medical terminology in Latin.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course the students will be able to:
- define caries and cavity classification;
- list and describe basic principles and steps of cavity formation;
- list the filling materials, describe their classification, qualities and indication for usage;
- recognize and list dental burs and instruments.
On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to
- form cavities on the maxillary and the mandibular teeth;
- select and use the right filling material;
- fill up the formed cavities with the adequate filling material.
On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to apply this knowledge and practical skills in the practical treatment of caries.
