About Study Course
Objective
To develop skills of patient examination, caries diagnostic and detection of carious lesions, prevention and early treatment of caries using evidence-based methods and materials; provide knowledge about the correct documentation of the patient and development of individual prevention and treatment plans.
Prerequisites
Biology, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy, histology, embryology, dental anatomy, preventive dentistry I.
Learning outcomes
Will name and characterise the oral health assessment indices, corresponding codes.
Will describe the methods for caries risk assessment.
Will classify professionally applied fluoride products and will explain their indications in different caries risk groups.
Will name occlusal and proximal dental sealant indications.
Will apply oral health assessment indices.
Will detect and record the stage and activity of carious lesions.
Will apply professional topical fluorides according to patient's age and caries risk group.
Will apply occlusal and proximal sealants.
Will be able to independently assess the need for different caries diagnostic, detection, prevention and treatment methods, taking into consideration the needs of each patient; will be able to follow the scientific literature about new diagnostic and treatment tools and rational use of existing methods.
