Objective

To provide students with an understanding of the subject matter, issues and significance of urban anthropology within the broader field of urban research.

Prerequisites

Background knowledge of anthropological theories and research methods is required.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of completing the study course, students acquire basic knowledge and competence in theories of urban anthropology, will be able to debate historical and contemporary urban anthropology, and be familiar with research subjects.

Skills

As a result of completing the study course, students will acquire the skills to apply the theories and methods of urban anthropology in the analysis of practical situations.

Competence

To critically evaluate the theoretical and empirical material covered in this study course, use it to interpret and analyse other theoretical and empirical material, and apply it to practical problem solving and research.
