Objective

To ensure the acquirement and improvement of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in urology that corresponds with the requirements of the andrological speciality, to prepare a physician for the certification in additional speciality of andrology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Anatomy, normal and pathophysiology of the urinary system. Functional tests of urinary system, urofloumetry;
Urinary tract infections. Diagnostics. Treatment;
Functional evaluation of prostate activity;
Prostate diseases: classification, diagnosis, treatment of prostatitis; benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate malignancies;
Effects of androgens on prostate function. Testosterone replacement therapy, deprivation of androgen, and prostate health / illness;
Varicocele: pathophysiology, classification. Effect of varicocele on sperm quality. Varicocelectomy: laparoscopic, micro-surgical, etc;
Cryptorchism, hypospadias, epispadias. Balanitis, posthitis. Diagnostics, medical and surgical treatment;
Male contraception: vasectomy. Indications, contraindications. Other types of male contraception;
Azoospermia and testicular biopsies: obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermia, diagnostics, differential diagnostics. Treatment types for obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermia.

Skills

1.Performs uroflowmetry;
Obtains and evaluates prostatic exprimate;
Performs ultrasonographic examination of urinary system and scrotum: transadbominal and transrectal ultrasonography of the prostate. Ultrasonography of seminal vesicles. Scrotum: Testicles and their appendages US;
Performs instrumental diagnosis of erectile dysfunction (penile dopplerography with and without application of the vasoactive substances);
Performs testicular biopsies: TESE, TESA, PESA, MESA.

Competence

1.Evaluates functional tests of urinary system, evaluates urofloumetry and its results;
Diagnoses and treats urinary tract infections;
Diagnoses prostate diseases, differentially diagnoses subspecies of prostatitis. Manages prostatitis treatment methods and types. Is familiar with the diagnostics and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia;
Diagnoses varicocele and its stages (palpatory, ultrasonography). Is familiar with varicocele surgical indications and subtypes;
Diagnoses testicular diseases (parenchymal lesions, microcalcinosis, spermatocele, etc.). Knows their treatment;
Diagnoses and treats erectile dysfunction.
