Anatomy Nights: a Valentine’s Day event at the RSU Anatomy Museum
On the evening of 14 February, Valentine's Day, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Anatomy Museum will host the educational event Anatomy Nights. The event is intended to create an intimate atmosphere with scientific discoveries about one of the most mysterious and symbolic human organs – the heart.
The event, which is being organised in Latvia for the fourth time, will offer a unique opportunity not only to learn about the structure and function of the heart but also to witness a live demonstration of an animal heart dissection. The aim of the event is to introduce anatomy to a wider audience, creating an understanding of the significance and functionality of this organ.
As Valentine's Day approaches, red hearts can be seen everywhere, but how much do we really know about this vital, life-sustaining organ? What are heart strings? How do heartbeats occur? Where is the hole in the heart? These and many other questions will be answered at the event organised by the RSU Anatomy Museum.
This year, psychiatrist Marika Garnizone has been invited to participate, and will focus on both the anatomical and emotional aspects of the heart. Aristotle already believed that the soul and the mind reside in the heart - how much truth there is in this belief will be revealed during the event.
The event will take place at the RSU Anatomy Museum, 9 Kronvalda bulvāris, Riga. Visitors are invited to arrive from 17:30, while the lecture and dissection demonstration will start at 18:00. The event will last one and a half hours.
The price is 7 euros, and tickets are limited. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, February 7, at 12:00 (noon) on bilesuserviss.lv.
Anatomy Nights is an international initiative that promotes public understanding of anatomy and medicine through educational and exciting events. The RSU Anatomy Museum is proud to continue this tradition in Latvia, offering everyone the opportunity to explore the miraculous structure of the human body up close.
