B-Space

This year, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Business Incubator B-Space is going to help three recipients of the Riga City Council grant Rīgas drosmes grants (Riga Courage Grant) to kick start their careers as entrepreneurs. B-Space will provide support in the form of advice and give them the opportunity to participate in its incubation programme.

‘We are excited to participate in this programme for the second year in a row. B-Space was launched this year and we can now offer support to business start-ups outside RSU as well. The recipients of the Riga Courage Grant value RSU’s extensive expertise in medicine and social sciences, and we can use the university's resources to support innovative ideas and ambitious people.’

Kaspars Zaļais, Manager of B-Space

The three projects the incubator is going to support are Mundo Tray, an ergonomic serving tray for waiters, DoctoWell, a management and e-appointment platform for clinics, and Sqrino, anti-falsification packaging.

After evaluating more than 50 business idea presentations, 8 people wanted to collaborate with the RSU Business Incubator. They have all signed agreements with B-Space to potentially cooperate and receive support and advice. The grant, however, was awarded to three prospective entrepreneurs. In total, 66 business ideas, both as individuals and as teams, were submitted to the Riga Courage Grant.

The Riga Courage Grant offers financial support - the 25 recipients each receive 2,000 euro funding and get the opportunity to cooperate with of one of seven university business incubators in Riga, including the RSU Business Incubator B-Space. Anyone who is at least 18 years old and who has passed the first round of the competition Ideju kauss organised by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia can apply for the grant that is organised by the Riga City Council together with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
