Latest data from SHARE Corona Survey made public
Data from Wave 9 of the SHARE Corona Survey 2 (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe) has been made available to a wider audience.
Data was collected simultaneously in 27 EU countries and in Israel in 2021 providing information how pandemic has changed the everyday lives of elderly people.
Latvia participates in SHARE project since 2016. The longitudinal design of the project means that the respondents are repeatedly interviewed every two years. The third data collection Wave is currently taking place in Latvia or Wave 9 in total since 2004.
To understand the impact of Covid-19 on elderly people, SHARE project`s management board introduced additional Corona Survey, where interviews with respondents were conducted in the summer of 2020 and repeatedly a year later. The second SHARE Corona Survey re-interviewed respondents of the first SHARE Corona Survey enabling to compare changes between the start of the pandemic and the situation one year later with other countries participating in the project.
The questions covered physical and mental health of elderly people, Corona-related infections in the personal social circle, quality of healthcare during pandemic, changes in employment and economic situation as well as internet usage habits.
