Latvian scientists greet airport visitors
An exhibition titled, To know! It is in the nature of Latvia., dedicated to September being Science Month, was opened to the public in the Business Information Centre “Magnetic Latvia” at Riga International Airport and set up by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA). In September, visitors of Riga International Airport have an opportunity to get to learn about Latvian scientists and their achievements. Among them is Inese Čakstiņa, Leading Researcher of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics at the RSU Institute of Oncology.

The exhibition displays photos that feature Latvian scientists published in the Latvian Science Calendar 2018. It is equipped with augmented reality technology Overly, allowing visitors to have a look at the scientists’ video stories and get a better understanding of their studies and the fields of science that they represent.

The exhibition is designed to applaud the strength and diversity of Latvian science during Latvia’s Centenary. The key personalities of the exhibition are scientists Inese Čakstiņa, Dainis Ruņģis, Jānis Karušs, Dagnija Loča, Ilze Matīse-Vanhoutana, Ilze Dimanta, Sanita Reinsone, Arnis Cīrulis, Kārlis Agris Gross, Solvita Strāķe, Gatis Krūmiņš and Agris Ņikitenko. The authors of the exhibition: Agrita Kiopa, Sandra Kropa, Lana Frančeska-Dreimane, Reinis Hofmanis, Jānis Zarāns, Iveta Putniņa, Agnese Dāvidsone, Jānis Dripe, Baiba Horelika, Elīna Jākobsone and students from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences.
The exhibition was designed in the lead-up to the 4th World Congress of Latvian Scientists that was held in June 2018, gathering over 750 participants representing 24 countries. Extensive cooperation networks and close ties with scientists of Latvian origin all around the globe provide opportunities for development and growth.
