New Members of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce Meet at Rīga Stradiņš University
On Thursday, 20 April, an event jointly organised by the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce (AHK) and Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) was held at the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre (METC). At the event, the new members of AHK presented the specifics of their enterprises and the services they provide, as well as learned about the RSU development strategy and simulation-based studies in medicine and healthcare.
RSU became a member of AHK in 2022 and welcomed AHK regional management, representatives, and new members from Latvia and abroad to the university for the first time. Among the guests were representatives from Deutsche Bahn, Grand Palace Hotel, Grand Hotel Kempinski, Colliers, and several other companies.
Toms Baumanis, RSU Vice-Rector for Administration and Development, presented the University's development results and future strategic tasks. He spoke about University's contribution to the national economy, the increase in the number of international students, and other development issues.
‘Participation in the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce allows us to introduce the study and research opportunities that RSU offers to a wide range of representatives of German employers, authorities, and institutions.
It opens up new opportunities for communication and cooperation. It should be emphasised that German students currently account for 33% of the international student body at RSU and the university actively cooperates with many leading German clinics,’ emphasised Vice-Rector for Administration and Development Toms Baumanis.
Ieva Šlēziņa, Director of the RSU METC, spoke about the achievements and future plans of the RSU METC in developing simulation-based medical education. The participants of the presentation had the opportunity not only to observe various simulations but also to take part in them and get to know the modern technical equipment and the role of simulations in practice. The participants took part in simulations of a first aid room, delivery room, and operating theatre.
With nearly 500 member companies, AHK offers a comprehensive network of business contacts between institutions and companies in Germany and the Baltic States. The AHK works closely with ministries, embassies, chambers of commerce, and business associations in other countries to support its members in reaching their target markets and represents members’ interests in cooperation with national and local authorities and other decision-makers.
