TNS study: RSU – a top quality university with an outstanding reputation
An academic reputation survey conducted by market research company Kantar TNS Latvia reveals that Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) has been recognised as a top quality university with an outstanding reputation and ranked the highest among the ten largest universities in Latvia.
The reference group, aged 15–26 years, has assessed the reputation of RSU with 74 index points, while the sectoral average awarded by this target audience is 58 points. The overall (15–60 years) assessment of the reputation of RSU is 69 points - the highest score for Latvia in comparison with the average academic reputation assessment by the given reference group – 57 points. The RSU reputation index exceeds the average in Europe for all sectors, i.e. 46 points.
The survey reveals that the reputation of RSU is rooted in the credibility of the university and its supreme academic quality. A diploma awarded by the university is regarded highly in the job market and the acquired education provides knowledge and skills essential for employability in the chosen profession.
RSU rector, Prof. Jānis Gardovskis recognises that, “a good reputation is hard to earn, thus once earned it is an extremely important asset. Our outstanding performance indicators are the result of a well-planned long-term development strategy, which, based on strictly defined goals by the entire RSU team, students among them, has - over the course of many years - enabled RSU to turn into the most progressive university in Latvia. Therefore I strongly believe that this ranking for its reputation is by no means a one-off announcement but instead – the assessment of our attitude towards work and the community as a whole on a daily basis”.
The Latvian academic reputation survey was conducted in February and March 2017 in the form of computer-assisted telephone interviews, by surveying 1002 inhabitants of Latvia aged 15–60 (this is a representative sample of the general population in the given age group).
In addition to medicine and healthcare studies, nine faculties at RSU offer modern social science study programmes. RSU currently has 7495 students enrolled, among them 2032 international students from 49 countries.
