External Scientific Advisory Board starts work at Rīga Stradiņš University
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has established an External Advisory Board consisting of renowned scientists and science administrators from Europe and the US. Initiating this board is a strategically important step in RSU's journey towards scientific excellence.
The board's main task is to assess the University’s research and development achievements to date and to make concrete recommendations that would help RSU further strengthen international cooperation and improve the quality of research. On 17 and 18 September, representatives of the board met with seven scientific groups to discuss their achievements and set goals for the coming years. These meetings will result in recommendations that will not only make a valuable contribution to the University’s development plans, but will also help steer scientific activities towards new achievements and international recognition.
Proposals to strengthen international cooperation and partnerships will be an important part of the work of the External Advisory Board. The experts will make recommendations on possible consortia, international research projects, and specific objectives.
The board is composed of 14 experts: the President of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, Tarmo Soomere, has agreed to take on the role of Chair, providing high quality leadership and strategic direction to the board’s work.
