For RSU Employees

To recognise outstanding achievements in the public health, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, the Ministry of Health and the Cabinet of Ministers annually present Letters of Commendation and Gratitude to professionals in the sector.

On 11 November 2024 at 12.00 (noon), awards will be presented to the following lecturers, employees, and one 3rd year doctoral student in the Great Hall of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).

The Cabinet of Ministers Letter of Commendation

Egita Pole, Director of State Blood Donor Centre, Head of Clinical Practice at the RSU Faculty of Medicine and Member of the Convent of Councillors, for building a modern, sustainable and high-quality centre, ensuring a permanent supply of blood and for improving the quality of healthcare. Under her leadership, the State Blood Donor Centre has successfully implemented a number of major initiatives in recent years to improve its efficiency and ensure sustainable development.

The Ministry of Health Letter of Commendation

Gunta Tīcmane, Head of the Family Medicine Study Programme at the RSU Department of Residency, lecturer at the Department of Family Medicine, for her contribution to the development of family medicine, for improving doctors' qualifications and for active public activity (nominated by the Latvian Rural Family Doctors Association).

Assoc. Prof. Dzintra Kažoka, Study Process Coordinator at the RSU Department of Morphology at the Institute of Anatomy and Anthropology, for her significant contribution to the education of young professionals.

Assoc. Prof. Valda Staņēviča at the RSU Department of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, for her long-standing and significant contribution to the training of young doctors, research and the development of paediatric rheumatology in Latvia.

Prof. Ivars Vanadziņš, Director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, for his significant contribution to the development of the Latvian occupational health and safety system, and for promoting the long-term health of employees in Latvia.

Anda Ķīvīte-Urtāne, Lecturer at the RSU Department of Public Health and Epidemiology, Director of the Institute of Public Health, Lead Researcher, Project Manager, and Lead Expert of the Ministry of Health in Public Health Education for her outstanding contribution to public health policy by providing the Ministry of Health with evidence-based recommendations, arguments and solutions to improve public health.

Jānis Kolbergs, Anaesthesiologist, Rheumatologist and Algologist at the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Clinic of the Children’s Clinical University Hospital, a Simulation Instructor at RSU for his work on developing and modernising the field of analgesia, selfless work, introducing ambulatory algology service for chronic pain patients, his continuous educational work with both medical and nursing staff in the field of multimodal analgesia.

Prof. Pēteris Studers, Traumatologist, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Lead Researcher in the field of endoprosthesis at the Spine and Joint Surgery Centre of the Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, President of the Latvian Hip and Knee Joint Association, Associated Professor at the RSU Department of Orthopaedics for his long-standing, honest work and significant contribution to the development of joint arthroplasty.

Prof. Mārtiņš Kalējs, Cardiac Surgeon at the Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, Chief Doctor at the Cardiac Surgery Centre, Lead Researcher and Associated Professor at the RSU Department of Surgery for his contribution to research, medical treatment, organisational work and education of young doctors.

Baiba Kubile, Audiologist at the National Rehabilitation Centre, Tutor at the RSU Department of Rehabilitation for her professional, successful and honest work.
