From memory to well-being: RSU students present psychology research at international conference
Students from the academic bachelor's program in Psychology participated in the International Student Conference Health and Social Sciences during the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week, presenting their research on various current psychological topics.

One of the research areas focused on the adaptation and validation of psychological tests. Helma Vīksna adapted the Sense of Belonging Scale into Latvian, earning 1st place in the poster presentation section. Kristiāna Sekace adapted the Impostor Phenomenon Questionnaire and won 2nd place, while Beāte Sintija Gulbe worked on adapting a questionnaire on attachment to pets and the impact of this on life into Latvian. Kristaps Ozoliņš studied how love can be measured in Latvia by adapting the CSI-32 questionnaire, whereas Sigita Siliņa worked on adapting the Family Resilience Scale into Latvian.
In the field of cognitive processes and memory, Bruts Georgs Sniķeris analysed the relationship between cognitive reserve, sleep, and memory indicators in veteran basketball players. Meanwhile, 2nd place winner Jānis Lauskis and Alīna Babjuka examined the validity and reliability of the Riga Cognitive Screening Test.
In the context of mental well-being and health, Elīza Eiduse compared the relationship between nature connectedness and psychological well-being among students from Latvia, Slovenia, and Cyprus. Evita Goreshnyak analysed the relationship between age-friendly environments and psychological well-being in middle-aged and older adults. Izabella Jākabsone studied the association between perceived discrimination and psychological well-being indicators within the homosexual community.
Katrīna Pogule analysed the relationship between lifetime physical activity and stress symptoms in a sample of veteran basketball players.
Meanwhile, Mārtiņš Rudzāts conducted a rapid systematic review on factors contributing to harmful sexual behaviour in adolescents.
About the RSU International Student Conference
On 24–25 March, RSU hosted the 11th International Student Conference Health and Social Sciences, marking the beginning of RSU Research Week, which took place on 24–28 March. This student-organised conference aims to promote students’ engagement in research. Additionally, participants can develop their skills in exploratory health and social science workshops, gain insights from professionals on current topics, and take part in medical and dental simulation championships.
