Andris Sprūds appointed Dean of the Faculty of European Studies
A.Sprūds has been working for RSU since 1998, lectures on international relations and is head of the Master’s study programme International Governance and Diplomacy. Since 2011 the professor holds the position of director of the Latvian Institute of International Affairs and is a publicly recognised international policy expert.
The term of office of the former Dean of the Faculty of European Studies, Professor Ilga Kreituse, expired at the end of 2017. In accordance with the RSU Constitution, the dean is elected by the Faculty Council for the maximum term of five years, provided that one and the same person may not hold the office more than two terms in a row.
The RSU Faculty of European Studies was established in 1998 and has a contemporary focus on training future public officials, diplomatic attaches, competitive entrepreneurs, and experts in the fields of business management, marketing and advertising. The faculty provides five undergraduate and seven postgraduate study programmes.
The end of 2017 brought changes to the management of other RSU structural units as well. Assoc. Prof Anda Rožkalne was elected Dean of the Faculty of Communications and Prof. Sandra Lejniece became Dean of the Department of Doctoral Studies.
