Our goal is to develop RSU as a university with European standards, for this reason we are looking to learn from the experiences of leading universities worldwide. Our students should also have the opportunity to be involved in world-class research, have access to the most progressive knowledge and sound research skills. Vertically-integrated projects have proven themselves in the best universities worldwide and I am thrilled that our university will be joining this programme.

Ingus Skadiņš, RSU Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine

The Vertically-integrated projects (VIP) programme is an innovative study initiative, developed at the world's leading universities where students are involved in real-life and challenging research and innovation projects. At the consortium meeting RSU representatives learnt all about this programme and discussed options regarding the introduction of this programme at RSU.

Dr. Julia Melkers, Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology, of Latvian heritage, helped organise the visit to Atlanta by representatives from the universities of Latvia. Dr. Melkers will be in Rīga in July and will give a presentation at the World Congress of Latvian Scientists.
