On 5 March, Dace Tarasova, a Social Sciences PhD student at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), defended her doctoral dissertation “Legal Regulation of Termination of Employment Relationships and Its Issues in the Republic of Latvia”.
Jerzen Benny comes from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. His parents are originally from India, but moved to the Gulf area before Jerzen was born. He is currently in his final year of medicine at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and is doing his internal medicine placement in paediatric cardiology at the Children's Clinical University Hospital.
The Ministry of Education and Science (MoES), the Ministry of Health (MoH), Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), and the Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE) signed a four-party cooperation agreement on 18 April this year. The agreement was concluded on the basis of an order of the Cabinet of Ministers’ that provides for the consolidation of LASE and RSU from 1 July this year. Kristiāns Meidrops will defend his doctoral dissertation on 23 May at 15.00 in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine doctoral committee in the Hippocrates auditorium at 16 Dzirciema iela and on Zoom. His dissertation is titled “Clinical Course, Treatment Outcome, Cellular, and Molecular Biology Findings in Cases of Infective Endocarditis Caused by Various Microorganisms Among Cardiac Surgery Patients”.

To raise awareness about diagnosing and treating rare diseases in Latvia, as well as to discuss challenges that specialists in the field face, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and the Latvian Association of Rare Disease Specialists (RSSA) are organising the 16th Conference on Rare Diseases. The conference will take place on 19 April at RSU and will also be streamed online. Healthcare professionals, residents, medical students, and representatives of patient associations from all fields are invited to participate in the conference.
