Lecturers and students from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) are welcome to attend a lecture by Professor Jonathan P. Kessler (USA) - The Brain, Trauma, and Addiction: The Triple Threat. The lecture will take place on 8 March, at 10:00–12:15 in the Boris Teterev Auditorium, located in the Medical Education Technology Centre (METC).

March has been designated Social Work Month around the world and this is celebrated by the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Welfare and Social Work as well.
Social Work Day – 21 March
The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) has designated 21 March as World Social Work Day. This year’s topic is “Respecting Diversity Through Joint Social Action”.
RSU students and staff are welcome to the guest lecture 'Our Europe – what happens after the war?' by H. E. João Gomes Cravinho, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
The guest lecture is organised by RSU and the Latvian Institute of International Affairs with the support of the Embassy of Portugal in Sweden.
Assist. Prof. Valtýr Stefánsson Thors is a specialist in paediatric infectious diseases. He is currently the lead for paediatric infectious diseases in Iceland and works at the Children’s Hospital Reykjavik, Iceland as well as an assistant professor at the University of Iceland.
The international conference Modern Management of Severe Orthopaedic Injuries in War, Mass Casualty Situations, and Humanitarian Disasters will take place as a satellite conference to Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week 2023 on 31 March.
The RSU Department of Orthopaedics is organising the conference in co-operation with Bar-Ilan University (Israel) and the Association of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Surgeons of Latvia.
On Tuesday, 21 February, Fulbright scholar M. Dujon Johnson visited the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Law to give a guest lecture on African-American Impact on International Law and Human Rights. In his lecture, Dr Johnson discussed the experience of the United States and the situation of Latvia in the field of international law and human rights.
Cerebral palsy is the most common cause of physical disability in children, with a prevalence of 1.6 cases per 1,000 live births in high-income countries. It is a lifelong condition which is why researchers are now increasingly focusing on the transition to adulthood for young people with cerebral palsy, both in terms of promoting their participation in different areas of life and in facilitating their transition to adult health care.
