About Study Course
Objective
To create an idea about skiing disciplines, to learn types of movement in cross-country skiing, to engage students in participating in winter events. To provide in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills and abilities in the methodology of teaching cross-country skiing in work with students of different ages and genders, in the skiing training methodology.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of general education courses of the 1st and 2nd years and theoretical and practical courses of the 3rd year of the professional Bachelor’s study programme.
Learning outcomes
Will know:
1. Types of skiing disciplines and types of movement in cross-country skiing, their main steps and terminology.
2. Conditions for the selection and preparation of a place for skiing lessons, teaching of types of movement, the organisation of skiing events in compliance with the basic principles of safe activity and ethics.
3. Conditions for selection of skiing equipment, preparation for classes and competitions, storing and maintaining equipment.
4. Methodology of teaching and physical fitness in cross-country skiing in work with a contingent of different ages and genders.
5. Cross-country skiing benefits in improving physical fitness and promoting health.
Will be able:
1. To demonstrate types of movement in skiing and determine the efficiency of its use, in accordance with the terrain and climatic conditions;
2. To understand inaccuracies in the performance of types of movement and use exercises and/or terrain to prevent them.
3. To prepare skiing equipment according to skiing style and climatic conditions
4. To foster pedagogical abilities and skills in planning and leading, observing and assessing skiing classes, outdoor winter activities.
1. In their professional activities, able to assess and use skiing as a means of promoting physical fitness and health.
2. Able to demonstrate an appropriate methodology and understanding of opinions on the role of skiing and outdoor winter activities.
3. Able to make, justify decisions and carry out professional duties in leading and organising skiing classes and winter events on skis.
4. Able to demonstrate an understanding of the professional ethics.
5. Able to act independently as well as to demonstrate communicative skills in a team and in practical activity.
6. To perform innovative professional and research activities in the matters of teaching and benefits of skiing in pre-school, general education schools and among the population in increasing and promoting physical activity and health.
