Objective

To develop students' understanding of the types of psychological tests and surveys, concepts of psychometrics, stages of development and adaptation of tests and surveys, to provide students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge of psychometrics and theoretical issues of instrument development and adaptation, to provide the opportunity to develop or adapt a test or survey by independently planning and implementing a pilot study and evaluating its results, as well as to develop students’ skills in using SPSS program in practical classes.

Prerequisites

Basic statistics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student defines and explains concepts of psychometrics, measurement scales, reliability and validity criteria for tests and questionnaires. Identifies the stages of tests and questionnaire development and explains standardisation and adaptation procedures.

Skills

1.Uses the terminology acquired during the course; discusses the types of tests and surveys and their development and adaptation in a reasoned way; plans a pilot study and correctly prepares the necessary stimulus materials for its conduct; performs a test/survey development or adaptation of an existing test/survey working in a group; uses SPSS software to calculate psychometric indicators of tests/surveys; discusses the stages of test and survey development in a reasoned way, measurement scales, item analysis, reliability and validity of tests and surveys.

Competence

1.Compares different tests/questionnaires based on scientific principles. Plans and implements the development and adaptation of a test/questionnaire, planning the sequence of work stages.
