Objective

Encourage student knowledge acquisition about the different types of fitness classes.

Prerequisites

Preliminary knowledge about physical activity is recommended, but knowledge may be obtained also during educational process, if it has not been previously mastered.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of the study course acquisition students will be able to:
• describe the different types of health-promoting fitness;
• list and classify health gymnastics;
• define concepts – Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Pilates, Body Toning, Fitball, etc.;
• describe the structure of the fitness class;
• describe the workout load for each of the fitness types offered.

Skills

Having completed this study course, the students are able to:
• use strength, balance, stretching, flexibility and endurance exercises in different types of fitness classes;
• use large exercise balls, balance equipment, small exercise balls, sticks, dumbbells and other equipment used in fitness classes;
• vary the physical load in different types of fitness classes;
• follow their heart rate.

Competence

Using the acquired knowledge and skills, students will be able to evaluate different kinds of fitness applications of their health and physical fitness improvement.
