1,200 graduates received diplomas from RSU this summer
Last week, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted a string of summer graduation ceremonies at which bachelor’s and master’s graduates from five faculties received their diplomas. In Riga, the graduations took place in the courtyard of the RSU Main Building next to Iedvesmas Park. The graduates' families could watch the ceremony in person or online via the RSU website.
This summer's 1,200 RSU graduates include 821 medical, pharmacy and healthcare students, including 53 students from the Liepaja branch and 166 international students. Diplomas were also awarded to 379 social sciences students.
In Riga, the RSU graduation celebrations started on Wednesday, 3 July, at 11.00, when 69 graduates of the Faculty of Dentistry and 33 graduates of the Faculty of Pharmacy received their diplomas. The graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine took place at 15.00, with 216 young doctors graduating.
On Thursday, 4 July, 379 graduates of the Faculty of Social Sciences were honoured. 86 law graduates and 81 young psychologists graduated in the morning, and at 15.00, 56 international politics and social studies students, 78 business and economics students, 57 communication and media studies students, and 21 health management students received their diplomas.
On Friday, 5 July, at 11.00, the international graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry - 154 young doctors and 12 dentists - were honoured. The last day of the graduation ceremonies was closed by a big group of graduates from the RSU Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences - a total of 289 specialists graduated from 11 programmes this summer. The largest number of graduates from this faculty received their bachelor’s or master’s degrees in nursing, physiotherapy, public health and social work. The graduates also included specialists in midwifery, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, audiology, orthotics and prosthetics, and nutrition.
On 27 June, the RSU Liepāja branch hosted its graduation ceremony. This summer, 15 nursing graduates, 22 medical assistants, eight psychologists and as many therapeutic masseurs received their diplomas in Liepāja. The RSU Liepāja Branch is the only healthcare education institution in the region of Kurzeme that has been offering healthcare education for more than 75 years.
At the graduation ceremony, the new specialists were congratulated not only by the management of RSU and its faculties, but also by the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Health, Foreign Affairs, Defence and Justice, representatives of various ministries and employers, and other guests.
